Liquid Glass updates in 26.4

Apple recently updated all their OSs to 26.4, and there were plenty of Liquid Glass updates. Most of them of the better! Here are some of the changes that stood out to me, as well as a bit more grumbling about Liquid Glass in general (sorry).

That's a great update; thank you. It gives credit for progress while keeping perspective on the whole situation.

The non-inverting "tinted" glass material is way better, and the search bar in Settings really is almost opaque (which to me just seems to affirm that the blur-based materials in Big Sur through Sequoia were fine if not superior for this stuff).

@Starfia Thank you! I'm glad it came across that way. And yeah, I'm very happy Apple is fixing things quickly. I like some parts of the Liquid Glass design, but I still worry that the underlying idea is flawed. I'm looking forward to how Apple updates it in 27.0.

@gavinanderegg

Yeah, I agree. This thing of trying to slosh the same design ideas over all platforms after a history of insisting different platforms require distinct systems?  You can feel the flags pretty readily.

Supposedly it originated on visionOS? I haven't used it, but I can see how even transparent interface elements could work if you have depth perception. (I could go on.)

At least it's been good to seek and find like-mindedness in other users this year.
