does archive.org really need a 4800 dpi scan of all sides of the box?

no, probably not.

is it getting a 4800 dpi scan of all sides of the box? yes. yes it is.

#retrocomputing

slowly building an archive dump for FTG light pens as well.

once I get a few more of the cards (one of which is coming with a whole bag of original documents/manuals) this will all be going up as well

#retrocomputing

so a utility to tell you if your light pen is working okay would be useful right?

it would tell you if your pen is ok.

what might such a utility be named

i am sorry i am making the fediverse worse
@gloriouscow hard disagree.

@seanwbruno

i will try harder

mood right now
@gloriouscow I'm not sick of it yet! What's your favorite software using a C64 light pen? I have a light pen but nothing to do with it.

@thalia I don't know a damn thing about the C64, so I can't give a personal recommendation.

But I highly suggest you track down whatever software this demon child is using and build your dream home

#retrocomputing

@thalia seriously what is even going on here, is she wearing a duvet cover
@gloriouscow Well I've got that same model of Commodore Datassette, so I'm good to go. I just need some way to get it on the cassette, since this it doesn't have a regular audio jack and my other cassette recorders have issues. Possibly some convoluted way through my Commodore 64 Ultimate.
@thalia is this like 80's AI

the Wikipedia article on the light pen is pathetic

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_pen

we will be expanding this

Light pen - Wikipedia

first though, the article on the CGA card has no light pen section! unacceptable!!!
Color Graphics Adapter - Wikipedia

let me know if you see any typos lol
@gloriouscow there is an extra “</ref>” at the end of the section where it mentions Sargon III and Micrografx PC-Draw.
@gloriouscow ten year old me wanted a Sam Coupe just so I could have a light pen
@gloriouscow and now I discover it was vaporware anyway! https://www.worldofsam.org/products/lightpen
Lightpen | World of SAM

@coldclimate you can probably make an adapter!

@gloriouscow

Wow! Question, has the page seen any content deletion?

Yes:

Checking archive & unfortunately November 7th/ 8th were not captured.

Neither were those .edu resources...

Returns 'no object found'.

Also didn't work:

Maybe someone else knows what this was.

@rusty__shackleford

I'm not a historian and I'm not going to pretend to be, but I think i can flesh it out a bit from the PC perspective - there are entire paragraphs that make no grammatical sense

@gloriouscow
you spelled "better" wrong
@gloriouscow oh don't be so hard on yourself/don't give yourself so much credit. the fediverse gets worse whether we help it or not.
@gloriouscow Or what if you lived on an island, and had a store where you sold pens? What domain might you register? https://penisland.net

Pen Island Pens

@petard @gloriouscow “We Specialize in Wood”

“Q: Can I provide my own wood?
A: In most cases we can handle your wood. We do require all shipments to be clean, free of parasites and pass all standard customs inspections.”

That’s pretty amazing

@gloriouscow Zero Kelvin?
@TomF if pen is too chilly, pen is not ok
@gloriouscow the penis mightier than the sword
@gloriouscow if they work, I could definitely use one of these.
