Today I ran my #30 #marathon (since 2024) at #Redmond City Marathon #race! Watch time 3:38:33 and chip time is 3:39:xx (result not out yet).Pace 8'20"/mi. Temperature 43F, cloudy w/ wind 2mph S and humidity 83%.

This is my first race of running by HR, and I mostly succeeded: avg/max HR 149/159! The problem in the second half was the opposite to what I wanted to prevent: I couldn’t get my HR high enough due to tired legs and — ahem — a slightly sprained left ankle!

That was a stupid mistake: I put my gels in the shallow part of my vest pockets, and they went flying at ~2.6mi! To pick them up, I ran onto the unpaved edge and… It didn’t feel too bad for most of the race, so I thought I’d escaped disaster until the famous 20mi mark, when it started to rear its ugly head. Well, it is what it is. At least I had a strong-ish finish!

My next marathon is ~24 weeks out – a lot of training to do, but I have the time! Onward!
