Avi Lewis is the new leader of the NDP, and if you want to know what that means, you should read his platform on labour & AI.

This might be a new era of Canadian politics. It's so very, very exciting!

Dignified Work in a Digital Age - Avi Lewis for NDP Leader

Among the crises we face today, few are as urgent as the loss of fair and secure work. Our campaign's five-point plan offers real solutions to the problems faci

Avi Lewis for NDP Leader

I literally joined the party to vote in the leadership race for this policy alone. ^

(Tanille Johnson was my #1. But Avi is a solid, solid #2.)

@mayintoronto I liked Johnson's platform too, but it wasn't in conflict with Lewis's, just different angles/priorities. I hope she continues to be involved in the party.
@theynege I want to see her be the leader one day.
@mayintoronto After I had gone through the polices, listened to the various candidates, and seen the nature of the campaigns I ended up on Lewis #1 and Tanille #2. I liked both as both seemed to actually stand for things I want and willing to stand behind them. Lewis’s ability to get a number of endorsements from people whose opinions matter to me was also a factor and that includes endorsements from some pretty hard left friends of mine.
@Chigaze I knew Tanille wouldn't win, and with ranked ballots, Tanille #1 was a principled decision. 😃
@mayintoronto In retrospect I should have done that as well but my brain often isn’t that strategic when it comes to voting. :)
@mayintoronto I joined to vote as well, though my choices were Avi then Tanille. Feeling hopeful today.
@mayintoronto are you aware that he’s on Mastodon?
@CStamp I was not! What’s his account?
@Serenus Just search his name. :)
@CStamp Found it, thanks!

@mayintoronto
I'm excited to see where he takes the NDP. His platform is more progressive than what we've seen from any party. If he does nothing more than push Carney to the left, forcing the Liberals to implement more social programs versus the focus on business development, then it's a win. I'm hoping for more than that - a minority government with the NDP as the leader or partner would be awesome. I also hope there's some positive momentum given to Marit Stiles in Ontario.

@PaulBusch the Greens are more progressive / further "left"

Just because the CBC and others are marginalizing the Greens doesn't mean they're irrelevant - it means they're relevant enough to be a threat that must be excluded

@mayintoronto I'm swooning, he hits almost every egregious anti human tech and anti worker policy that has made lives worse for all Canadians over the past decade - EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS!!

And yes, we need more worker owned cooperative options in industry and for housing.

All of it, medicine🧡
