So this is either
- whining about non-academics using a phrase differently
- Doctorow thinks the phrase is inapplicable, just like you do

Then they raise things that'd never be described as "enshittification" and say "your enshittification theory didn't cover this did it?"
I hate radlibs man.

Also this article has telltale signs of AI (headings, weird negations), and reading another article I can see even more signs lmao

@jon_dog They've got a post where they're trying to train a model on the Voynich manuscript, take that as you desire :)
@DarkestKale What the hell would that even achieve lmao, LLMs can translate between languages, but that's from known ones.
I've not trained a model myself, so it sounds like the process based on what I know, but wow what a convenient funding source.
@DarkestKale @jon_dog
h... ho? how? would that even work? Like, not even how would the resulting model be useful, but just the training itself. The training process relies on a human to "grade" a model's "answers", and that's decidedly impossible when the human has absolutely no idea of what they are looking at
@hjvt @jon_dog seems like a greaaaat use of eight grand, amirite?
@DarkestKale @hjvt Well thankfully it's probably just a story, based on the tags.
Getting towards the end I was thinking "this is sounding like a creepy pasta"
