I will die on the hill of considering "left-handedness" in #accessibility, especially on mobile where the touch-screen blurs the line between the software interface and physical world:

the #Firefox the tab list puts the "New tab" button to right of the centre, which I guess is very convenient for most folks, but I struggle to reach it with my (small) left hand.

like.. 10% of the people is left-handed (more than colour blinds), and yet, I feel there's nothing is done to accommodate our needs 😮‍💨

to give credit where it's due, the new ui is an improvement from the previous one which used floating action button (FAB), but this is still designed right-handed users in mind as the more significant action is placed in a close reach for the right thumb (and the less important overflow menu is pushed to the left).

that being said, the FAB is the worst design choice on Android for a left-handed, so from being "the least convenient interaction on my phone" it became to only an awkward one 🤷‍♂️

@pcdevil That's interesting I'm left handed, but I mostly use my phone with my right hand. (Except for writing text)
But I'm using a mouse on the left (fully ambidextrous) side of the keyboard with my PC.

@fboldog funny how it's the other way around for us!

but I assume you've learnt using the mouse with your left hand much later than with your right, right? I'm thinking that most of the mice were curved for right hands _back in days_ and left-handed mice were quite expensive.

☝️ due to this I got used to have the mouse on the right side, but even nowadays I feel I'm clumsy with it.

(sidenote: this emoji reminds me my other favourite topic, left handed representation in emojis 😅)

@pcdevil @pcdevil I learned to use a mouse with Amiga, where the mouse (not all) was simetric. Phones (especially the smart ones) come much later.
My dominant hand is the left, but I use smartphones with the right.

@fboldog my dominant hand is also the left, but I use these devices in opposite manner!

partly maybe because I'm using a computer dominantly via keyboard and try to navigate with shortcuts. but I'm not sure if that's the cause or causation and it's only more convenient to do it like that because I suck at using a mouse?
(I'm terrible in first person shooter or any game requiring high precision mouse movement)

@fboldog going back to the original point...
I don't know about you, but in the recent years I more and more realised that switching hands makes a task way easier to perform.

like scissors, for some reason I completely forgot how to use it with left hand and I'm never able to cut things, it's almost like the scissors are blunt or something.
but if I change hands then - even though I'm clumsy as hell - it works?!

but I naturally grab and use anything from pen to screwdrivers with my left hand.
