I know I'm a broken record here, but I wish advertisers would hurry up and realize AI ads make me less inclined to buy their product not more. There was a drink I actually wanted to try, but since seeing it advertised with a picture of a beautiful woman in an impossibly constructed cardigan sitting at a bar with an entire bottle of spirits, a perfume bottle and half a pair of glasses on the table in front of her I've decided not to.
@afewbugs tell me more about the cardigan misdesign.
@afewbugs
Same here. Nothing says "low effort" and "we don't give a shit" than an AI ad, and that reflects back on the product and the company. (Along the same lines, I'm REALLY tired of ads for major brands and companies using YouTube library music. I watch a lot of YouTube, and it's really jarring to see a theme I associate with a vlog about model trains, advertising a luxury car.
@afewbugs If people took the time to read the research on the actual effectiveness of web advertising, the whole industry would probably collapse.
@afewbugs
I'm the opposite. I love it when companies advertise to me that i should avoid them.
@human3500 @afewbugs To be fair, that’s just advertising in general.
@afewbugs Well, it doesn't exactly scream "care & attention", so it seems rather prudent to me to stay away from products made by companies that clearly don't care if it's good, or even safe...

@afewbugs

Fascinated by the perfume bottle.
Are you meant to drink it as a chaser?

Is the smell of the spirit so boggin that you need to disguise it somehow?

What flavour was the perfume?

@benh there was no glass on the table, so I assume if she didn't want to drink straight from the bottle of neat spirits she was going to pour it in and drink it from there

@afewbugs this is supposedly an ad for a "ground heat installer" (not sure what the English term is), and there are so many obvious errors that to me it looks more like a scam than a legitimate business.

Like.. if they sell this, why don't they have a single photo of an actual installation?

@mk @afewbugs Here that would be "ground source heat pump".
@mk @afewbugs loving the mini-excavator skills on display here! 😂
@yvan @mk it's amazing isn't it how they've managed to dig all those trenches that are narrower than the shovel

@afewbugs @yvan @mk

And the mini digger tracks are sitting on thin air over the trenches!

@suearcher @afewbugs @mk that's the lesser-seen hover-board digger model...

@afewbugs Real pros just dig with the shovel sideways.

@yvan @mk

@mk @afewbugs
That looks so fake to me.
The minidigger is grounded having parked with its tracks over two trenches.
There is nowhere near enough spoil, trenches are not dug that way, the chap nearest front is floating in the trench and holding a cut length of pipe, the pipes are wrong, the other chap appears to be digging away the edge of the trench, etc.

@mk I think the term you're after in English is "ground source heat pump" (for Jordvarme).

Yes, weird and scammy = vibe from AI ads

@mk @afewbugs I’m still wondering why they want to heat the ground. The ground is typically quite good at regulating its own temperature.
