I guess it could be welded back

Hi, woman engineer here, so if I’m not allowed to post please delete.

That won’t take a weld, but the tab could be drilled and then a steel pin (preferably knurled) put in and braised/soldered in place … or even just epoxied. Then it would be stronger than new :-)
