Tried to see what it’s like to do something experimental on a Digitone and it’s about as easy to use as an analog modular, I think. Took me about half hour to figure out how to record audio straight into an iPhone camera and had to use the Blackmagic camera app (amazing btw) and a Zoom U24. Used 3 tracks with “probability” triggers and 1 S&H LFO. Just 16 steps, looping. Of course not as powerful as a modular but so convenient and compact.

It’s unfortunate you can’t just plug a standard 1/8” audio cable into an iPhone and just have it record into the native camera app. Like, you have deal with special cables and/or audio interface, and a special camera app. But I guess at least it’s still possible and you can avoid having to record picture and audio separately and have to sync.
