Hi, all! Returning to Mastodon after spending the start of this year detoxing from as much of social media.

Some of my favorite things are music (eclectic taste branching from rock, rap, and electronic), niche video games (an example would be me recently being interested in Forbidden Siren for the PS2), thrifting, philosophy, psychology, and writing.

I enjoy all of these things while also being visibly trans and queer (I identify as agender), so that makes finding people to talk about these things in person with more difficult/anxiety-inducing.

And so I'm trying to do it that way again where I have a social media account about it. #introduction #LGBTQ

@blaseblazenost wait... social.vivaldi.net exists? I thought it went away... I guess not.

@JigmeDatse I was unaware they did away with it; I've only really seriously been using the browser and the "ecosystem" with it since the start of the year, though, between this and another OS installation.

With the way I see promotion about Vivaldi Social, it makes me wonder if they'll try to do a PeerTube instance or something similar someday; they seem to want their browser and brand to be a one-stop shop for content/navigation in the sidebars, only with all that content being FOSS sourced if you want it on at all. At least that's the vibe I've had from using it.

@blaseblazenost Clearly it's not gone. It could be that I am totally misremembering. I could be thinking a different project, or they may have more "stepped back a bit," without really actually doing much beyond saying they are going to be stepping back.

I do
hope that it works well for you, or if you do have to migrate away, that you'll have a decent time to do so.

@JigmeDatse Okay good, that's vindicating because that's how I was initially reading what you were saying when it came to the platform.

But also, yes: I'm having a great time so far back in the *Fediverse*, importantly. I still never don't feel like I fully know how to *use* apps like this after all these years, but Fedi has consistently offered me the closest feeling I've had to "understanding" the appeal, if that makes sense?

@blaseblazenost Thing I've noticed... If you're decent, and go, "I don't understand," and are being honest about it, most folk, will just go and say, "oh this is what I meant..."

The technical stuff, can be daunting with just about anything. Hopefully you don't end up with what I had elsewhere, where with no notice, you have no real way to deal with any of the, "oops I'm not here any more"...

Enjoy yourself, and always feel free to ask questions, or whatever.
