Further work on the #AllSkyCamera revamp: new casing, as the old one is starting to crumble under UV and Scottish weather. But forgot, buying new casing, that the top surface needs to be flat to mate to the dome. So 3D printed an adaptor (fun high school maths challenge) and then needed a stand to hold the camera in position: brainwave, I've got a knackered Peltier fan for the stove, and what an astrocam wants in a stand is a really good heatsink.
No, not leaving the fans in place, and no, the heat difference from the camera and stand wouldn't drive anything substantial anyway, but I like your thinking. In principle, I could use the Peltier module to *cool* the camera, I may experiment with that, but suspect it would take a hell of a power draw. Passive cooling has worked well enough the last 5 years, better passive cooling should be better, if not ideal. But hey, budget!
