My lupus flared up again.

No #NoKings participation for me.

@IveyJanette 🫂 I did go.

@c_merriweather Great.

There were some in the Black community urging us to sit out the protests because this "ain't (Black folks') fight",like the other protests.

We had a huge one here in Albuquerque,down the street from where I live. Including the usual assholes showing up to harass people.

@IveyJanette
I hope you feel better soon
@tlariv I overdid it this week. Physical therapy,errands,support groups ,therapist and meetings.
@IveyJanette I'm sorry. But, self-care is very important.
@kimlockhartga Plus the location was too far for me to walk,since I'm still using a cane. There was a huge turnout here in Albuquerque. Along with the usual assholes trying to start shit.

@IveyJanette I admire you for even considering going. Lupus is much more fatiguing than nearly anyone realizes. I will say that *finally* people brought extra camping chairs for our senior and disabled communities. The weather was perfect: not too hot nor too cool. We had equal areas of sun and shade. So, it was important to make the venue as comfortable as we could. But, you would have still had to drive, or get a ride. And that means we are not being inclusive enough.

There is zero interest in organizing a local protest in my own town. We are 80% Black and Hispanic, but honestly I think a lot of my neighbors had to work.

So, I had to drive quite a bit further away. I did talk to people who had attended a bigger city slightly further away, and two others about an hour to 90 minutes away. None of us considered attending the one in Atlanta, because public transit and traffic is a nightmare. I'd literally rather drive two hours South.

@kimlockhartga I've been flaring off and on for a month. I'm used to it. I also had to pass on going to a meeting of the transit riders union today because of the fatigue and joint pain.

The Albuquerque protest had a big turnout. It was at Montgomery Park instead of downtown.

The Black community is sitting out No Kings. A lot of people online say this "ain't (Black folks') fight. Plus we're tired of always being the ones in the streets protesting.

@IveyJanette totally understand. If we had all listened decades ago . . . time for white folks to step the eff up.
@kimlockhartga While they were clutching their pearls and drinking mimosas,Blacks and Latinos were in the street. Getting beat up. Getting arrested. Getting killed. Time for someone else to do the heavy lifting.
@IveyJanette Agreed.

@kimlockhartga My family was among those protesters back in the day.

Time for someone else to be out there.

@IveyJanette
I'm sorry about the flare-up. That sucks.
@ohmu I've been flaring off and on for a month.

@IveyJanette

Sorry about the lupus. Take care while we show up for you this time.

@jztusk Thank you. I've had lupus since 1988. Flares are normal for me.
