What is the oldest Linux distro?

#fediverse #linux #foss #question

Softlanding Linux System (SLS) is (probably?) the first linux distro. Slackware is the oldest linux distro that is still being maintained. If you're curious there's lots of people active on #slackware on liberachat and linuxquestions.org.
Small fun fact: this message is actually coming to you from a Slackware server, running on an ancient Mac Pro 1,1 (2006) located in the basement of my house. My whole presence on the Fediverse is powered by Slackware.

@thoe

I have been running a couple of very long term analysis programs on #slackware 15.0 :) These will run for much longer.

This was typed on #NetBSD which I have 11.0 RC2 on. These are my 2 favorite systems.

@thoe I believe MCC Linux just has SLS beat, and I for one shall cleave most fervently to the theory that it originated in the Marylebone Cricket Club and not Manchester university's Computing Centre.
yeah, still a lot of people using Slackware, very active community
