Atlanta food thread:

1. I’m at a place that feels like someone did a focus group of just me and asked ‘what do you want?’ (Coffee and tinned fish)

It’s called Larakin. Good coffee, beautiful outdoor seating in Midtown.

On Sundays and Mondays they have a Japanese popup doing 10-13 course omakase. Cool concept. On Friday nights the chef does hand rolls here

People really do just tell me their favorite restaurants randomly.

While having coffee, I found out about JenChan’s and OK Yaki, so I’m very excited about that

Okay this is unfair. You guys have a proper Malaysian restaurant?!

In SF, I have to go to.. San Jose or Pleasanton (don’t tell me about your fave SF Malaysian / Singaporean restaurants..) to Chickenlicious or Curry Leaf Bistro.

Mamak looks great and legit (also Malaysians have vouched for it)

2. Had a delicious brunch at Fin & Feathers.

Soul food. Delicious grits. Everything was very good. They had a jerk chicken egg roll, even.

Probably my first real southern meal. I had catfish and grits

@skinnylatte I had to chuckle a little because up here in Eureka, Fin & Feathers is a pet supply store. 😄
@skinnylatte grits are delicious when made with good corn. Although I have to admit I do not like sweet grits at all, only savory.
@skinnylatte That's an area (Buford Highway) that's full of “ethnic" (sic) food. There used to be a great Malaysian restaurant in Buckhead too, in a minimall and omg that food was orgasmic.
@skinnylatte There are only two things I miss about Atlanta, the restaurants and my friends. I've had so many amazing meals over the 25 years I lived there.
@revndm I really like it so far.
@skinnylatte in Midtown, Xi’an Gourmet House and Urban Hai are both pretty good Chinese restaurants. But the more important thing isn’t actually a food recommendation, because you should go to the Botanical Garden.
@skinnylatte If you like Ethiopian food, go to Desta. At least two locations, the suburban one might actually be closer to you if you're in Midtown.
@skinnylatte Thanks for the heads up! I'll try to visit it tomorrow.
