Roll 3dog01: UC Riverside (May 18, 1969)

James Rector was killed May 15, 1969. You've seen photos of the campus strike a week later and the protest march in Berkeley on May 30. In between, at the end of the annual debauch known as Scot on the Rocks, we were visited on May 18 by the biggest musical act to hit UCR in my time there: Three Dog Night.

One: A member of the light show crew prepares screens for that evening.

@bosak Three Dog Night! Nice. As soon as I saw that, Joy to the World (“Jeremiah was a bullfrog”) started running through my head, though that single wasn’t released until 1971.
@stuartmarks At the time these photos were taken, the band's claim to fame was "One (is the Loneliest Number)."
@bosak Ah, that’s a great tune too, but I have to admit it wasn’t the first to pop into my head. 😁
