I have an interesting issue with Omni Describer. When I first tried it several months ago, it worked like a dream. Now, I cannot even get to the point where the YouTube video is downloaded. It times out. It doesn't matter which vid I try, even short ones. I've swapped out the API key, not that we're even getting to that stage. I've updated the app. It's a shame because it used to be good.
@brian_hartgen sadly the dev has focused more on doing that threw a web site now, and not the desktop app, and I believe there is a subscription for it now. I can't remember the web site, as i didn't save it. the desktop one is suppose to work still, but they aren't updating the desktop app anymore. I can still get mine usually to work on local videos. let me see if mine times out on the whole youtube one.
@JamminJerry @brian_hartgen It’s still in Beta, so no subscription yet. studio.binclusive.io
@technocounselor @JamminJerry If that is from the same developer, it doesn't look half as good.
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor I don't think it is. this is called content studio it looks like. IK could be very wrong of course, but this just doesn't look the same at all.
@brian_hartgen @JamminJerry No it doesn’t, but it is where he is doing all of the updates now.
@technocounselor @brian_hartgen well if this is the case. I am not sure if I will use it. I did look at what the pricing is going to be, and I saw how many tokens you can end up using on just one video, and if I am doing math right, and reading the pricing right, that is not what I would call afordable. not only that, like brian said it just doesn't look, and or feel the same at all.
@JamminJerry @brian_hartgen Yeah I’ll have to decide what I’m going to do once he starts charging for it.
@technocounselor @brian_hartgen well for now, the desktop one still works, so that is what I will do for now. me personally, I don't mind paying for something, but if it is out of my price range, I jsut can't. I want something for watching the videos we take of our boys. those are more important to me than youtube videos, or tv shows. smile.
@JamminJerry @technocounselor Just to go back to this conversation, the web-based version is in fact the same project from the same developer. Just to confirm.
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor ah, ok. well turns out she was right. hey, I am man enough to admit it. smile.
@JamminJerry @technocounselor I have submitted feedback because in my view it is nowhere near ready to subscribe to a plan. Moreover, I cannot get the new version of the regular app to launch at all, so I'll just put it to one side for now.
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor what version do you have of the app that you are having isuses with? the one I have is omni describer 1.3.1
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor when did I miss that one, and can you still get that one? wow! I am seriously out of date then.
@JamminJerry @technocounselor That is the version downloadable from the web site. I know this because I wondered whether the update was corrupted in some way, so I took the precaution of downloading the full package. Regarding your other query, allegedly the starter plan gives you 40 minutes of vid per month approx.
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor hmmmmm. maybe I did read something wrong then. when I was looking at the web site, I don't recall anything saying this is aprox X minutes of video, but I could have missed it.

@brian_hartgen @technocounselor is this the error you are getting with version 2.0? this is what is happening with mine.

Application Startup Error dialog Omni Describer encountered a critical error during startup and had to close. A detailed error report has been saved to the application's log file. Please find the log file at: C:\portable\omni describer\app_log.txt And send it to the support team for assistance.

@JamminJerry @technocounselor That's the one. I have sent the app log file.
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor ah, ok, I probibly don't need to send it then if you already did.
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor mine jsut asked me to upgrade when I ran it.
@brian_hartgen @technocounselor I still wonder if I am reading the usage of tokens and what not right when I look at local videos being done. I think I have seen sometimes 50000 tokens used on just one video. if I read the pricing page correctly, it is $50 for 50000 tokens. if this is the case, you could potentually use all your tokens on one video. did I read this correct, or am I in error?
