Well, depends.

Are they alive and breathing? Then, no.

Are they dead and not breathing? Then, no. But at least they are dead.

Does pedophiles imply sex offender?

Because there’s some of them seeking help knowing they have a problem

That does not make them good people.

You are conflating paedophilia with sexual offenders. Which makes the situation worse for all potential victims because it makes seeking help more difficult for those paedophiles that do not want to become a perpetrator. There are legit therapies available to deal with paraphilias.

Note that the majority of perpetrators is not paedophilic. Sexual assault is often about power and dominance. Children are simply easy targets.

You are conflating people not being bad, being thus good.

They don’t automatically become good people, just because they are not bad.

There is a whole range between being a good human being, and being a bad human being. People “just not acting out” what they would like, and seeking help doesn’t make them GOOD people. It probably makes them “not bad people”, but only in this specific case.

I’m not sure about that. Various branches of philosophy will argue doing what you know as good which is against one’s desires is the ultimate goodness. But just doing good because you want to doesn’t really get any brownie points. But at the very least, someone with bad natural urges who doesn’t act on them because they know they’re wrong surely isn’t ‘bad’. Ideally they should self identify to protect others in case they ever can’t control themselves, and that’s why we shouldn’t really use the term pedophile the way we do with such negativity; but too many ignorantly people conflate the notions of desire and action, so that’s pretty much a lost cause . Being a pedophile apparently is like an orientation which one has no control over, like being gay or straight. The difference is that a pedophile can never act on their urges without hurting someone terribly, which has got to really suck.

But you don’t know that, many pedophiles might just do it to fit in in society, they got caught up in the help process (or whatever reason), and not for some empathic reason. There are obviously both IMO, hence the not bad doesn’t automatically mean good.

It is quite interesting how people want to believe everyone is sort of baseline good (or so I feel), which is nice I guess!
