So listen up. After Hamas raped and murdered a 19 year old distant cousin of mine October 7, it would be easy for me to fall into a trap of hate, but I'm not going to do that. If I can avoid that trap, it should be a breeze for those of you with no skin or blood in the game to throw away your playbook. This is a traumatic subject for me...

@Yehuda this was a really good read, thank you for sharing!
@josh0 Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to read it.

@Yehuda I’m a bit of a sucker for history and archaeology, all the more so when it provides valuable insight into modern issues! I wish people were more aware of, and more interested in, the actual facts of the issues, especially as they confirm a lot of the facts that should bring us all together!

Relating the issue of ancestry and indigeneity to the shared story of Isaac and Ishmael seems like it should be so obvious. If ever there was a feud between two brothers, it’s the one we’re all living through right now!

@Yehuda I'm curious to hear more your personal thoughts and what you're taking away from the blog you quoted

A big subject and a traumatic one to me, so I tend to stay out of it as much as I can. I think the base facets are important though.

I tend to view the Jewish and Palestinian peoples like I view the Mvskoke and Tsalagi (Cherokee) peoples. 2 brown Indigenous cultures with a lot of common genesis, nearby or shared lands, a lot of common heritage and practices, a lot of intermarriage.

I do think there should be a 2 state solution in the Levant, each with their own... (continued)

...sovereignty and self determination.

Without the base understanding of shared Indigeneity and respect going both ways, we're pissing in the wind, there will never be resolution.

Winner takes all will just destroy both sooner or later.

@Yehuda mhm. But if two nations share lands, how are they supposed to divide those lands and sort themselves into them without ethnic cleansing (even if it's peaceful) and/or creation of resented minorities within each territory? The notion of nation states, a 1-1 correlation between nation and territory, has never worked without some kind of ethnic cleansing and genocide, even if relatively peaceful. Look at the history of Europe leading up to the formation of its nation states, and places where it wasn't completed, like Catalonia.
