...and nice to meet you too! The fediverse is my main "internet hangout" for exactly those reasons.
I guess technically my focus has been polar landscapes/seascapes/systems/geophysics
...however, policy is inextricably intertwined! To say "I just look at the ice" is also a politically loaded statement ;)
William B Peckham@teclista @matdevdug American journalism has not collapsed, although it's definitely under attack and suffering. I'm not sure it will ever recover, at least in a way and form I would recognize. I too am immensely grateful for the Fediverse, and the scientists, journalists, and researchers who expend energy in informing.
