Currently in the middle of an infuriating Yak Shaving journey:
1) Super important security update for iPhone (17GB download)
2) Not enough space on my phone -> delete whatever I can. It's not enough
3) Transfer all photos (20GB) to my laptop. Delete half the photos on my phone
4) Install update
5) Transfer back the photos
This could have been the happy end, but NO

6) Go through photos to delete more to not run into the same problem in the future
I CAN'T DELETE ANY OF THE PHOTOS I HAD SWAPPED OUT
Because they are "synced" now as opposed to "camera roll". And it's not straightforward to disable the sync. Apparently you need iTunes and not the app that I used to do the syncing (ImageCapture) and I currently HATE EVERYTHING!!! Stupid fucking Apple...
All I want is to delete photos. How the fuck can this be such a horrible experience?

This is exacerbated by the fact that I HATE iTunes and always deinstall it the everywhere...
And I neither have nor want iCloud.

Ich fühle dich doll. Sowas hatten wir hier vor ein paar Monaten auch.
Es hat sogar nicht geholfen das update über iTunes/finder zu machen (wird dann extern gemacht und du brauchst theoretisch nicht so viel Platz.
Im Endeffekt hat es dazu geführt, dass dort Fotos nun in einem self-hosted #immich sind. Mal sehen wann das spezielle iPhone gegen Android getauscht wird.
#syncthing wäre auch einen Blick wert zum Fotos sichern
