🪨 Lotus 1-2-3 on the PC w/DOS 🛠️

Did you know that #Lotus123 is still referenced in Microsoft #Excel documentation to this day, but not #visicalc I finally spent some time getting to know VisiCalc's literal killer. When I struggled to get a chart made, I turned to the only one who could help me: an AI. From 1986!

Lotus 1-2-3 on the PC w/DOS

VisiCalc started it, but 1-2-3 finished it. "It" being the discussion of what a spreadsheet can be, and also VisiCalc itself.

I used SuperCalc (CP/M and DOS) after Visicalc on the Apple II. Then Cracker for a while before Excel on Windows. Later Open Office, then Libre Office and Gnumeric. I still use Gnumeric though I have LibreOffice. Excel 2003 works on WINE and 2007 sort of works on WINE.

I hardly ever used Lotus 123 and Wordperfect (Wordstar CP/M & DOS, NewWord, MS Word then LibreOffic).

I didn't use dBase much. Used MS-SQL rather than Access.

@raymaccarthy Cracker is a new one on me. What system was that on?

CP/M (PCW 8xxx) and MS DOS. Same publisher as NewWord (Classic Wordstar clone for CP/M & DOS).
I have a working 486 with DOS 6.22 & much old PC DOS SW, as well as WFW311. 10 G HDD with Ontrack as 3 x 2G partitions & 1 x 1.8 G I think.
PCW CP/M emulator and floppies on an old Linux box (only 64bit CPU Mobo left with a floppy port), not running right now.
A 2000 Dell i7500 originally NT4.0, now Win98SE & Win2K dual boot.
April 2002 Dell i8200 still original XP, reinstalled June.
