The best post I've read this year! Currently learning how to do spreadsheets with Lotus 1-2-3 Release 4 for DOS (multiple worksheets per file is non-negotiable.)

I've been good friends with #VisiCalc over the past five years, but I've always turned my nose up at #Lotus123 for some reason. "Thinks he's so special. He's not special. Just a copycat wannabe jerk and..." well, I'll save all that for therapy.

I finally broke down and learned it, and you know what? I didn't hate it. I liked it, even. Maybe I even... loved it?!

Did you know that #Lotus123 is still referenced in Microsoft #Excel documentation to this day, but not #visicalc I finally spent some time getting to know VisiCalc's literal killer. When I struggled to get a chart made, I turned to the only one who could help me: an AI. From 1986!

I'm migrating all my personal bookkeeping from #LibreOffice to #Lotus123 running on DOS/8086. Why? Because I can. It's great nostalgia, and also a good test case for my 8086 emulator, and I can also utilize my old PCs when in the mood.

As a bonus #DOS is also much faster: on 3.2GHz Pentium, LibreOffice startup takes over 20 seconds; my 8086 emulator, DOS and 123 start under 5 seconds. And I can run it in a terminal under #GNU screen.

I was practicing touchtyping using typewriter until around June 99. Then, I learned Lotus123 and WordStar on Microsoft DOS on Netware network.

These were really charming.

I used to work for Fort Wayne Indiana PHP (non-profit). I introduced #Lotus123 / G for IBM OS/2 + IBM OS/2 LAN Manager - and was invited to #UnitedHealthCare HQ (Minnetonka) to discuss what I had done. I personally worked with claim analysis and studied workflow. I confirm what is being said. #TeamOS2
