Watched the Theroux documentary "Inside the Manosphere" yesterday. Kids in their early twenties, drifting, trying everything from Hiphop, gaming, bodybuilding and now turning dangerous right wing trolls - just to get some relevance. I wager most of them have never touched a book in their life, but are now idolized by millions of teens and the only thing that gives them orientation is the desire to "get rich" and the algorithm, obvs. DEPRESSING stuff.

Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere - Wikipedia

@LaD_Hallo I watched it a few days ago and was disgusted. The platforms give them a reason to feel so entitled, and fuel the feeling that these stooges are the center of the universe.

I did like the "floor cleanup" at the end though. :-)

@jmhorner Yup, same, was disgusted. Striking scene to me was when Louis asked one of those guys "why not be a good person?" Kid then said 'if I was a good person I would not be here". And everybody knew he was right. Damn where are the 1980s/90s when kids were reliably leftist and wanted a "better world", lol!
