Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about a piece of music that’s very important to me: “Tema di Andromeda” by Mario Migliardi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTj99RgdvS8).

Music as an accompaniment to cinematic action has always fascinated me. It would be wonderful to collaborate with a director.

So here is a short musical fragment that, in my imagination, accompanies a brief scene in a film—something like a sudden moment of tension, a person who is being chased and tries to escape, or hides. I hope you like it.

@Eidon @neoclassicalmusic a wonderful, evocative piece you've written - and yes I can imagine the tense/anxiety-provoking film scene this might accompany.

It's curious that a soundtrack isn't a musical genre per say, but rather a functional description: it is simply music used to support a film, tv, game or performance. Whether it's symphonic or electronic or rock-based or musique concrète doesn't change this underlying utilitarian function. To say "I like soundtracks" means you are potentially listening to and appreciating every type of music/sound imaginable.

@mrowster @neoclassicalmusic Thank you for your message and kind words of appreciation for my piece!
I see your points in your remark. What comes to me is that the function of music when coupled with movies is in some cases more symbiotic than utilitarian. "Theme to Andromeda" is the soundtrack for "A for Andromeda", or is it "A for Andromeda" a visualtrack for Migliardi's composition? Probably both are true, at least in my mind. This is not always true -- utilitarian music has always existed; but the way I write my "imaginary soundtracks" is to set up symbiotic relationship with images and stories. I find it interesting that utilitarian videos also exist -- videoclips, which have the dual role of complementing the key player -- in this case, music.

Again, thank you very much for your message. If you wan to listen to more of my music, do not hesitate to do so :-) https://eidon.bandcamp.com/follow_me

Eidon

@Eidon you are absolutely right - symbiotic is the better term for this relationship.

I have not seen A For Andromeda! I really ought to seek it out, the Migliardi piece you've linked to is quite beautiful.
