Saw Leftie the crow this morning, gave hir a special 3-nutted-pea (3-lobed peanut), and delighted when ze struggled to fit it in with the 3 already in hir beak. I said "good job" when zee succeeded.

I wonder if Leftie is stocking up for some little ones (either here or soon to come?). I've seen lots of crows around selecting branches, twigs, and straw the last couple of weeks, this past week especially, so it's that time of year, eh?

I'm curious if I'll get to meet the next generation of Lefties.

The two smaller crows who were around Leftie all fall and winter don't seem around as much, though I do see them together sometimes. I guess those two have left the nest and are starting their own families. They could be any of the crows I see around. I'm now at a point where a crow will swoop to a line or rooftop just ahead of me and in my sightline so I can throw a peanut their way. Any of those could be Leftie's grown kids.

Also, dunno why I alternate Lefty/Leftie I suppose it doesn't matter, ze has hir own name(s)/identity(ies) and probably doesn't care how I spell my made-up name for hir.

@quietmarc Maybe you use -y when you perceive them as more masculine and -ie when you perceive them as more feminine. OK, maybe not, but that would be fun.
