🗓️ Exactly one month ago on Saturday morning, 28 February, #Iran was plunged into digital darkness as authorities cut off access to the global internet.

After four full weeks, 672 hours, the blackout remains in effect, violating Iranians' right to communicate and stay informed.

@netblocks You are repeating US governmental line, complaining about their diminished insurgency propaganda capacity.
@pegdhcp @netblocks The Internet of Iran has been shut down for over four weeks. That's a confirmable fact.
@jblademitchell @netblocks And all the rest of post is "political BS"...
@pegdhcp @netblocks which part is "political BS" specifically?
@pegdhcp @netblocks Maybe you don't know this, but as an Iranian, I know that for the past 4 years, digital blackout means lots of people getting killed, phones and security camera footage being grabbed, and another massacre hidden. This doesn't invalidate your insurgence argument, but Iran also *does* use these periods to wage war on its own citizens.
@parham_d @netblocks Dear sir, I am aware of that and while loving your country and people frankly hate your government. The point is, as a Turkish citizen, 30+ years of my 56 years life passed with undeclared war against insurgency supported by US, UK and to a lower extend Germany and France. As such, I do not wish the same problems upon you, on top of your existing problems and sad history with Pahlavi family, Savak etc.
@pegdhcp @netblocks Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. Having to deal with insurgence when you like what you have is definitely a problem I understand. The difference I think is that I'm not aware, fortunately, of any other country in recent history killing over 30K of its own people and gang-raping nurses and a lot more things in internet blackouts. I'm not sure if the current regime is any better than Pahlavi and its Savak, if not worse. (1/2)
But thanks to your detailed and respectful answer, I understand your position. Thanks a lot for that 🙏 (2/2)
@pegdhcp @netblocks
@netblocks isn't their president dead? so why won't they restore the damn net?
the authorities are dumb
@patricus That’s not how that works, just because the leaders are dead, doesn’t mean that things go to whatever they want to. Behind all that technology there’s decades of control. You can’t just flip on a switch and be like OK, we’re back for good this time. Iran has a sophisticated cyber hacking group around, and if I read correctly, that country is designed to operate, even after the leaders gone I’m sure they plan for this sort of thing. Also, I’m not saying I know everything about this country, I don’t live there, but that’s just what I’ve heard around the Internet.

@netblocks

Any news on the military censorship in Israel?

#IsraelTerroristState

@Fou_ad @netblocks I'm not sure what Israel does has to do with a country plunged into digital blackout. Whether you like Israel or not doesn't really affect what the Iranian regime does to its population as far as I understand 🙏

@Fou_ad @netblocks Can you explain more? I had a look at the original post, and it says that the Iranian authorities cut out the internet (which is true), how long ago it was (which is also true), and how access to the Internet is a human right (true as well). What am I missing?

@parham_d @netblocks

I am simply pointimg out to people reading the OP that an internet blackout is only one way to restrict information flow and that Israel does it by military censorship with real prison time.
@netblocks did nothing wrong. i am simply providing more context for readers who may need it.

@Fou_ad @netblocks Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.
@Fou_ad @parham_d @netblocks Prove that Israel cuts off the Internet with evidence. Don't just claim stuff.

@jblademitchell @parham_d @netblocks

I never said they cut off the internet. I talked of military censorship.
Dont just claim stuff.

@Fou_ad @parham_d @netblocks
Provide evidence of "military censorship" then.
Censorship in Israel - Wikipedia

@Fou_ad @parham_d @netblocks Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Take your whataboutism elsewhere.
@Fou_ad @parham_d @netblocks Oh, no, I'm not going anywhere. I'm interested in this thread for completely obvious reasons. I just think you and your pals are obsessed with Israel and need to insert something about it into every conversation.

@jblademitchell @parham_d @netblocks

Considering the genocidal nature of the state of Israel and the carnage they have been dealing around the world for the last two and a half years (not to say 8 decades), reminding the people like yourself that they are evil is a mission I take pride in indeed.

💥Over 1500 anti-war, anti-Netanyahu protesters in Tel Aviv were assaulted by police on the illegal grounds that while Israel is at war no one can protest against it.

@Fou_ad @parham_d @netblocks
I like how you told me to fuck off and now you're desperate for attention since I won't just leave the thread.

Twitter BS isn't evidence either. 🤣

Is the "police assault" in the room with us right now?

What does this have to do with Internet access??

You aren't a serious person.

@jblademitchell @parham_d @netblocks

It has nothing to do with internet access but everything to do with censorship.
Also "anecdotal evidence" is by definition not evidence.

You said you were following the thread for "obvious reasons", they arent obvious to everyone.
The only thing that was clear was that you opened your account a couple days ago and define yourself as jewish first (as per the two lines in your bio).
And your first move was trying to get me to shut up about Israel.

@Fou_ad @parham_d @netblocks

Lol. You seem to be confused. I don't care how you feel about Israel. I think people like you are obsessed with Israel and then have to shoehorn the topic into every conversation. That's just an observation. I think it's funny, because Israel will live whether you want us to or not.

And yes, I know your stupid "anecdotal evidence" was pointless. Not sure why you bothered.

As for my profile, we all have to start somewhere.

@jblademitchell @parham_d @netblocks

If you cant see the connection between Iran's internet and Israel you are more obtus than you think.
Also if you dont know about your own military censorship you are simply a moron.
You are right, i dont know why I bothered. Burn in hell along with your Israel.

PS: perhaps you could start with developing a conscience instead of your jewry.

@Fou_ad @parham_d @netblocks

LOL. There's the irrational hate salad. I knew it was coming.

I will be doing none of that, thanks. Israel will weather this storm and will be fine. I will also be fine, and just as Jewish as ever.

Yes, I don't know why you bothered either, but that was your silly mistake.
