New at my Patreon... Whenever I'm near a steam locomotive I can sense its sheer power, via the heat of the boiler and the hiss of its steam. And yesterday I met the mighty Kingston Flyer, which runs along a 14-kilometre stretch of track from the town of Kingston at the south end of Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand:

@timrichards "To hear the locomotive working ¨. NS 3737 on photo. Made in The Netherlands 1911, preserved in museum, performing on special days.
In my Wagon Lits -years a special 4-day trip with mostly original Orient-Express-stock to Greece.Maximal length 15 carriages ,fully loaded. This engine had to do the first Dutch part. Also crossing a bridge with high elevation. There was a back-up electric loc at the other end of the bridge, just in case.
Not needed. Huffing and puffin, he made it 🙂
