Tfw you thought you broke a rare piece of retro tech but it turns out to be just a 35 year old potentiometer acting up… Phew. 😮‍💨 #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #Restoration

@janbeta
Some years ago I took out the ULA of my ZX Spectrum 128K because it was acting weird (a bad contact apparently). I'm clumsy and I broke a pin. I managed to "fix" it by attaching a socket to it. A hack job, but it works.

I can relate to the heart attack.

@janbeta I wish I didn't know this feeling!

Glad it's all OK!

@janbeta That was me the other day. I hot-unplugged the RGB cable between my CoCo3 and Tandy CM-8, both 40 years old, and it now only works with pin 2 disconnected (https://old.pinouts.ru/Video/Cm8CoCoRGB_pinout.shtml) and it produces a buzzing sound. I haven't diagnosed it.

@janbeta I’ve been thinking about you. That beast must take up every inch of your workspace when disassembled. And then the pressure of something so rare. It is absolutely in the right hands though. Someone with a real connnection to Amiga in their personal history, and also a wish to make it more than just something sitting on a shelf.

Thanks for bringing us along for all the bumps. It’s impressive how far you’ve already gotten with it.
