@kcarruthers I'd have thought that the worst case scenario wasn't a lack of US defence assistance but rather was an active US attack.
@ingram they’ll be out of weaponry pretty soon and be closing their borders to keep the brown folks out.

@kcarruthers @ingram

Maybe rationing quality education [starving public ed] for decades wasn't such a good idea.

@kcarruthers There's big money to be made in making weapons so I bet that'll be prioritised over pesky things like food, health and education

@ingram 🤣 “US manufacturers had not received orders for any extra munitions as of early March, there are risks that some of the components needed to make them, like sulphur, are likely to be in short supply because the Strait of Hormuz is closed.”

The oil crisis is meeting a military stockpile crisis

While markets struggle to price a sudden collapse in oil supply military analysts are sounding the alarm on the rate countries are burning through weapons stockpiles.

@kcarruthers Fair point, but there's still plenty of things to be supplied that don't require "bang". The JDAM tail kits to convert bombs to smart bombs etc, but a semiconductor shortage will start to bite at some point. It'll be interesting to see how the death merchants cope with supply squeeze from China too. And just because materials are in short supply doesn't always stop the billing process.
