This is not a new problem. Democracy Watch co-founder Duff Conacher said in the original story:

“There’s nowhere to go because you don’t have a legal right to challenge a decision not to investigate a situation, unfortunately,” he said, a reality that “makes it very easy for all of these entities to bury wrongdoing and keep it secret.”

@JEmphatically Right?!? The one upside is that while they don't bother to hide the corruption it is easier to work against, but damn they are confident that they can get away with it consequence-free
