There’s a beautiful, strange allure to the colour purple. It feels occult to me, otherworldly. Gilt features the colour in many small ways.
I bet you can all think of at least one magical feeling purple location in an adventure game.
Such use of colour is hedonistic, sure, but the creative journey need not be entirely austere and morose.
Of course being creative is self-indulgent. The feeling of satisfaction when the elements come together is the only pleasure worth getting up for. I can easily drink coffee and listen to songs about death in bed.
@ThreeOhFour I was always taught that every creative decision should have a "why" behind it.
Took me far too long to realise that the "why" can be as simple as, for instance, "I like purple"
@lunarloony Yes, exactly. It’s perfectly valid for the reason to be “I want to”. “I like this”. Easy to fall into the trap of overthinking/overcomplicating things.
@lunarloony In this case it falls in nicely with the triadic colour scheme I picked for the project, which is a sensible and well balanced way to pick a colour scheme. But why did I pick this specific colour scheme? I like it.

@ThreeOhFour That's so beautiful, I am really looking forward to the game :).

And yes, purple is wonderful!

@ThreeOhFour
looks awesome. the purple darkness in the last one with the warm light is so great. purple and orange are excellent contrasting colors, the royal contrast!
what happened to the head of the half guy in the foreground
@TripTilt Thank you! As for what happened to that figure? The same thing that happens to us all: time.
@ThreeOhFour I think it's so interesting how universal colors affect us. If you haven't already read it, I'd recommend "If it's Purple, Someone's Gonna Die". Also, I'm still very excited for this game.
@p3nguinc4g3 I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that! And thank you, glad to hear! :)
@ThreeOhFour love that font for the reaper looking character
@rappscal Thank you! Had fun drawing those letters.
