exactly
the first in human terms, the narrowed eyes mean "i'm going to fuck you up": anger, suspicion, disgust
but in cat terms it's "i am contented and relaxed"
the second in human terms is super kawaii cute, so much so that deadly nightshade that can be used to widen the pupils is also known as belladonna- beautiful woman, because medieval italian women used to do that
but in cat terms it's "i am going to fuck you up": maximum light inputs engaged for deadly precision
human/ cat bad chemistry
@ApostateEnglishman @benroyce I think our local cat was more cunning than that.
It knew my father didn't like it, and kept away from him.
Except when we kids were around - then it would jump onto his lap, knowing that he couldn't do anything nasty to it whilst we kids were watching.
it's also weird that for humans bared teeth is a smile: it communicates happiness
but elsewhere in the animal kingdom bared teeth is pure aggression
@ShiitakeToast @ApostateEnglishman
i find myself yawning sometimes when feeling in danger. i don't know if it's a personal quirk or if other people do that too. of course, yawning at someone aggressive is not wise
