I've also wondered if it's about people trusting companies and startups more than "some random individuals".
Or, maybe it's more about "the devil you know". We all know we'll have our data stolen, ads inserted into our feeds. But most of us have come to accept it?
And there is too much unknown with the fediverse?
@wjmaggos Yeah, definitely understandable.
And I also get that it's a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem, where people wait until others move to a new network, and/or are too busy maintaining their social media presence where they already have an audience.
Don't really have a solution to any of these problems, frankly.
But just today I invited someone new to join here, so, you know. Little by little.
