Please don’t support the terrible Rowling

@stux haven't for a while now..

Never got the books popularity...

Did read them and noticed the problems straight away

@Noortjevee

I never liked it in the first place lol, pirated  some movies but meh 🤷

@stux i seen most in cinema...people took me to see em, i always thought they were ok low attention fun

@Noortjevee @stux

The only things JKR brought to the table were cruel interconnects between the much better sources she stole from, plus lawyers.

When I read the first HP book, I thought it was a fanfic homage to the Worst Witch series or maybe Chrestomanci series. Or Books of Magic for the protagonist. Or Agatha Christie for plot. Nope. Complete rip-off.

OK, time to watch some Worst Witch! Or Owl House!

A pretty good summary of the wherefroms and examples:

Note: Rowling’s middle name is not in fact Kathleen, that is part of her pseudonym, she does not seem to have an actual middle name. J.K…

@jakebrake @Noortjevee @stux Have you seen the Conrad Edison series? I was surprised he wasn't sued. It was just a darker version of HP.
@CStamp @jakebrake @stux i have not...it goes on the list..

@Noortjevee @CStamp @stux

Onto my list too!

This is turning into a pretty good source for things to check out! Perfect for a Friday afternoon.  🎬

@jakebrake @CStamp @stux i agree...

If i may suggest one of my fave books, not tied to this.

"The thief of always" by Clive Barker.....

Amazing read

@Noortjevee @jakebrake @stux FWIW, it seems a movie for it is in the works. :)

"A live-action adaptation is currently in the works, scheduled to be directed by Jennifer Kent."

@CStamp @jakebrake @stux one has been teased so often i lost hope of a good one

(Also lost hope on a new Abarat book)

@CStamp @jakebrake @stux

The Books of Abarat is a young adult fantasy series by Clive Barker, set in a magical archipelago of 25 islands, each representing an hour of the day, with a planned five books, of which three have been published: Abarat (2002), Days of Magic, Nights of War (2004), and Absolute Midnight (2011).

@CStamp @jakebrake @stux

The series follows a girl named Candy Quackenbush as she navigates this world, battling darkness and discovering her connection to it, all brought to life with Barker's own surreal illustrations.

@CStamp @jakebrake @stux

I always kinda identtified with Candy

not sure why

It might remain a mysterie forever

@Noortjevee @jakebrake @stux I think he got his magic rules a lot more consistent. JKR had so many inconsistencies. They can do a reparo, for instance, to fix broken glasses, but poor witches/wizards have patched or ratty robes? They all seem to take the train, in a muggle train station, to Hogwarts, but there are magic folk who don't know what muggles dress like?

@CStamp @jakebrake @stux one of my main gripes is

"There is no magic strong enough to raise the dead...oh wait there is, we just lied. Lied so the only intresting (to me) part is negated and leads to dull by the books resolution.

@Noortjevee That didn't bother me so much because the cost of coming back was one that cost a lot and corrupted the person throughout the process. And he didn't really come back from the dead because he never totally died. He was just mostly dead. :) @jakebrake @stux
@CStamp i did not mean the Horcruxes. but the deathly hallows thing.
@Noortjevee Ah...well, with that there were only 3, and a person would have to possess all 3.

@CStamp @jakebrake @stux

the whole
"...and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives."

(had to google the words)

Was kinda intresting to me.

but the cop out of the deathly hallows, and then the goddamn expeliarmus deflect bullshit, so they could go "no no...HArry never killed him, voldemort kinda killed himself"

@Noortjevee @CStamp @jakebrake @stux

They could just have said "predicting the future doesn't work, suck it up". Unfortunately fantasy on magic is rarely courageous enough to handle the "prophesy of the one who will be our salvation" properly (ie. this way).
