Apropos of nothing (no, really), I would like to point out that Richard Pryor appeared on The Partridge Family, in the episode "The Soul Club".

He played one of a pair of brothers who booked the Temptations but got the Partridge Family due to a mix-up. The other brother was played by Lou Gosset, Junior.

The episode's song, "Bandala", included an arrangement by Pryor's character which included both violins and horns. A major plot point is getting a local marching band to supply them.
