New toy. I bought an Epilogue GB Operator. It reads Gameboy and GBA games and save files from a cart, let's me play on Windows or Linux, then save my progress back to the cart.

It can also apply colour to original Gameboy games, rewind time, upscale the image, etc. Took a little effort to get it working properly on Linux (what doesn't) but it seems pretty good on the first evening.

Plus if you have fake knock off carts you can write homebrew games to them. Maybe some day I will finish developing a GB game and do just that.

@benbradley I covet my retrode which has a GB attachment for this same reason, but the features on this thing sounds awesome. Got a link to them?

@benbradley Let us know how it goes, that's a very cool device.

@benbradley This is such an impressive device.

I love the fact that you can plug it into your phone for detecting bootleg cartridges at a convention and such. Quite a robust and useful tool.

@Judeau I didn't know about the phone thing until after I ordered it. It is cool.

Sadly I plugged in my copy of the rare but popular game Ninja Cop and I have learnt it's a fake. Bah. 🙂

@benbradley Oh! No way!!!! I'm glad that it works, but at the same time That's pretty disappointing thinking you had an original copy.

Granted, it's not 100% accurate. I think the website said something like 97%, iirc. So maybe there's a bit of hope you have an original? 🤞

@Judeau yeah I will check the circuit board I think.

@benbradley have you heard of Game Bub? It also have ability to backup save and rom. It also work like an analogue pocket, letting play GB and GBA game on the go. Also, it's open source.
