President Volodymyr Zelensky has been formally nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Hide the ketchup.
@MJmusicinears But he's engaged in a war. It's defensive, but is he a peacemaker? These peace prizes make no sense. Give it to someone who's actively working to prevent wars.
@mason @MJmusicinears... He *is* trying to stop this war.
By getting the Russians out of Ukraine.

@Taco_lad @mason @MJmusicinears

No, obviously he would produce peace much faster if he just surrendered, why is he causing so much trouble?

The criteria for who can nominate someone for Nobel's peace prize are quite broad: In addition to former winners and members of the committee itself, a nomination can also be raised by anyone who is a sitting member of a national parliament or government, and anyone who is a professor of history, social science, jurisprudence, philosophy or theology.

Also, the committee does not publish or confirm nominations, so all claims about nominations are unoffical.

@mason that's an amazingly stupid take, congratulations!

@MJmusicinears

@pgcd And there's no one working towards peace who deserves it more? I'd give it to Pope Leo or Greta Thunberg or Medea Benjamin or someone putting themselves out there. Try to be a little creative.

@mason *nominating* someone for the Nobel Peace Prize != giving it to them.

*Not* nominating someone because they've been attacked and their people are being killed every day, is a stupid take nonetheless.

It is very much like stoning girls because they've been raped, you know.

(Also: "someone putting themselves out there". Because a dozen attempts on somebody's life don't count. Sheesh.)

@mason @MJmusicinears
Giving him the prize is a sign to all agressors
“Do not start a War, do not kill Mensch”
