If I am being totally honest, I find the whole #Yaesu WIRES-X thing really convoluted and confusing. And the new update to the 2.0 WIRES-X software makes it even more confusing. What were they thinking?

@bud_t WIRES-X exists for ONE REASON only, which is to make people tell you "you turned on WIRES again" when you accidentally apply your face to the keypad.

@ai6yr It is really so strangely designed. And then when they update things they make it even worse!

I'm listening to one of my ham friends go breathless trying to explain it all on a net. And he's been trying to explain WIRES-X and the software to people on this net for years and it is still confusing!

@ai6yr @bud_t That is only one purpose, although it is the primary one.

The other purpose is to expose hams who are utterly baffled when told they have Wires on. And go right on acting like they don't, and who can't figure out that just pushing one button will solve the problem.

As a frequent Net Controller, I honestly am not bothered when people make mistakes, because as long as they are taking part, they'll learn and the whole hobby is made better.

But I hate Wires.

I wish more people took that approach. We have people who have their license but have such extreme mic fright that they just don't participate.
