While I understand the concepts of it all, I think I need to find a local Elmer to learn the details of all the C4FM / Fusion / WIRES-X / blah blah blah stuff, since it seems like fun to tinker with.
@croyle smartly didn't sign-up for that job when he sold me the FTM-200D. If he had, he'd be begging me to send the radio back for a refund by now. 😂
Perhaps you've heard of My First Pony? Here's My First Yaesu.
Earlier this week, the lovely FTM-200D pictured here (upper right) arrived from @croyle and is now freshly programmed and in its perch as my base station VHF/UHF unit. Although with APRS and such, it may well leave the shack from time-to-time.
So far, I find it to be a really nice radio, and look forward to tinkering with WIRES-X and what-not in the weeks and months ahead.
Banging my head trying to get a WIRES-X PDN node to allow connections to C4FM rooms. I get the room list, but the “Connect” option is grayed out, as is the Port Check button. I think it may be a Windows 11 firewall issue.
Gotta leave it alone. Spent *way* too much time on it this evening. 😐 #HamRadio #Yaesu #WiresX
Just finished building my #CW practice kit. Also nicely turns into my #POTA / #SOTA travel kit for CW. I designed the cases for the BaMaTech - BaMaKeY TP-III and the HAMCUBE Mini so that they provide more ergonomics and comfort while in use.
Whatcha think?

Got FT-480R working with FT8 last evening, although for some reason none of the Yaesu microphones I have worked.
The pin layout of the FT-847 and FT-480 for PTT and mic are the same, but the mic's PTT wouldn't work. I will have to make one from scratch.
PIn 6 - PTT
Pin 7 Ground
Pin 8 - Mic
