Yup, one thing I don't miss about Twitter (among man) is the Tesla reply guys who get when you say statistically supported things like that. Remember how they condescendingly tell you that gas cars catch fire too, as if you didn't know that?

Bruce Mirken@MaryAustinBooks @timo21 Hey, I loathe Musk and would never own a Tesla, but available data actually does indicate that EVs are less likely to catch fire than gas cars. Current lithium ion EV battery fires ARE much harder to put out than gasoline fires, which is a different but legit concern. Oh yes, I was talking specifically about Teslas, not EV's in general. Do I want an EV? Oh yes. Do I want an EV made by a guy who thinks safety regulations are for losers? Not so much!

@MaryAustinBooks @timo21 Musk has been careless about safety in many ways, especially "self-driving," but the likelihood of the car catching fire -- as opposed to what happens to you after it does -- doesn't seem to be the real issue.
