Really excited about my new laptop. It has a sensibly shaped non-glare screen and a nice tactile keyboard. The OS is 100% free of #AI bullshit and it doesn’t even ask me to sign up with an account anywhere. The user interface is clean and intuitive with a simple “Start” menu in the corner and nested menus from there. Cost me a little over a hundred bucks in mint condition.
It will just be a thin client for my real computers which are both about 100x as powerful. They run #Linux of course, #debian being my longtime distro of choice. I’m probably going to put 32-bit Debian on this too; all I need is X windows to run on it over the LAN, which works fine with ssh -CY <real computer>. And a VNC client. That’s it.
@edsuom
I get it.
I had to try simulating Windows 7 here, for a 90 year old relative. She loves it - our solution was Ubuntu
@edsuom the hardest part is finding clean sources for ancient drivers, and batteries that won't explode. Good business machines like these are rare.
