OpenClaw exposure dashboard https://openclaw.allegro.earth/

This claims that nearly 500k openclaw instances are openly exposed?! can that really be true?!?!

I think "exposed" here doesn't mean that you can necessarily bypass the "security" requirements but that the instance is publicly accessible. But I'm not sure.

This seems like an awful lot of instances full stop though. I really did not expect nearly 500k claw agents to be listed

@cwebber it's gone pretty viral and mainly used by people that are Not Computer Touchers™️ . I'm not surprised that number is higher!
@cadey @cwebber "hey chatGPT, set up an openclaw gateway for me, yeah you can have my digitalocean login, here you go"

@ShadowJonathan @cadey @cwebber I got a month of Claude Pro and did about 20 years of deferred projects in about an hour with Code and kept a shotgun next to that fun little squid the whole time

No one should be allowed near this technology until they develop a healthy suspicion of computers.

@cadey @cwebber I was kind of complaining into the void yesterday that there are likely a lot of non-technical people using OpenClaw for pretty basic stuff, and that the alternative of doing it "the right way" is usually a pain in the ass. As an example I've heard that people LOVE using it for what is essentially cron jobs.
@dvshkn @cwebber This means that we need better UX for making cronjobs tbh

@cadey @dvshkn @cwebber Isn't that what systemd timers are for?

(No, not serious.)

In China, a rush to 'raise lobsters' quickly leads to second thoughts

OpenClaw, a highly autonomous open-source AI agent, is especially popular in China, but security concerns have both users and the government seeking to rein it in.

@cwebber lol. lmao. This industry will never reputationally recover from the security implications of AI
@cwebber it even lists whether they have leaked credentials! That's... a bit much!
@cwebber Given everything we've heard about OpenClaw, I'm 99% sure those "exposed" instances really are exposed, the only question is how widely exploited each exposure is. (Not surprised at the count, folks seem to have gotten enthusiastic with this thing)
@wordshaper @cwebber yeah, it looks like there are a lot of Chinese ones, I know "raising a lobster" is a bit of a meme there at thre moment
