Why are some of the “equal rights” liberals I know so against people with autism and Down syndrome having rights? - Lemmy Cafe

Note how I say “some” that I know, not “all” and “everyone in the world who is like this”. Well, I knew this girl in high school, she was around 16 and still acts this way because I know some people who are in touch with her and they all act the same except for one who is like an enabler almost. Anyway, she said she was a liberal (not a leftist, but a liberal) and advocated for equal rights. She said she wanted to make sure with the government, everyone had equal rights and that everyone had a say. She wanted to be friends with everyone too, or at least, that’s what her “persona” said. She actually turned out to be really Christian as well, so she opposed the rights of gay marriage and while 16 is too young to vote here where I live at least, she actively voiced her opinion against it, though she didn’t bully gay people unless they were lesbians who she thought were into her. She would go around asking lesbians if they were lesbian and if they wanted to date her though and accused them of “raping” her when they said hi to her, but she would also run Discord servers asking people what their pronouns and sexuality was and acting “inclusive”. Furthermore, she said people with autism and Down syndrome are the R-word and openly bullied them, saying they didn’t have a say. She told an autistic girl I knew that she hoped she got raped, and then said “Actually, you don’t deserve to get raped because that would mean you would be worthy of love”. I get that not all liberals are like this (as a leftist socialist talking), but why are a group that I came across like this? My friend is also “apolitical” but complains about people getting offended by everything because they’re “woke” and called women kissing gross. She is a straight women, maybe bi-curious last time we talked about LGBTQ issues, but she only finds men kissing attractive.
