SpinnerUnfortunately, fusion power involves highly volatile magnetic fields, and AI will be needed to react to fluctuations quickly. Other than that, I think the novelty is wearing off. I hate to root for a bubble popping, but here I am. Still, I admit I dread the AI dungeonmaster as one of those uses that may partially justify all of this investment.

The types of AI that do things like handle fluctuating magnetic fields in fusion reactors, that spot suspicious tissue patterns in mammograms too suble for the human eye to discern, that work out novel ways of folding proteins ... those domain specific AIs are in a totally different league to the LLMs that are currently enshittifying business and the internet.
AI can be very valuable. But the LLM shite that big businesses are trying to push into everything... not so much.
