At last! It starts this fall:

"A new era for Open Research Europe"

https://research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu/news/all-research-and-innovation-news/new-era-open-research-europe-2026-03-26_en

Diamond #openaccess for all authors from 11 supporting countries:

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น Austria
๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท France
๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Germany
๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Italy
๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Netherlands
๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด Norway
๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น Portugal
๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Slovenia
๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Spain
๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช Sweden

Now "incentivize" institutions to make this the default #publishing option. #openscience

A new era for Open Research Europe

European Commission to co-fund new phase of operation for open access publishing platform.

Directorate-General for Research and Innovation
@brembs Incentivise in European English and not the American dialect

@humanhorseshoes

OK. Point taken. ๐Ÿ˜Š

But the UK decided to #brexit and I have lived in the US for some years. ๐Ÿ˜‡

@brembs Ireland, joined the EEC in 1973, still in the EU, official language English, joint with Irish in their constitution. Malta, second language Maltese, English officiial. English widely spoken in Cyprus but not offiical.

English is an official working language of the EU along with German and French.

We know you think we are in the UK and it is inconvenient for Europe that Ireland is still in the EU but those are the facts.

@humanhorseshoes

Touchรฉ! I read "English" and thought of England. You are completely right.

And no, we love the Irish, as does everybody else, and of couirse it's great we are all together in the EU. ๐Ÿ˜Š
