Targeted recruitment on LinkedIn is as off as my Pinterest ads for baby diapers.
@linguistgoneforeign I once was contacted on LinkedIn by a recruiter who told me that I was a great match for the position because of my competence in Hindi. 🤷‍♂️ Unless the position specifically required applicants who couldn't speak or understand a word of Hindi, I am pretty sure that I was actually not a great match for the position

@Armavica

That's hilarious! 😂
I really don't know how they do these "great fit" assessments.

@linguistgoneforeign

Soooo tin foil hat time:

Do you know those scam emails with all the typos and such?

This is the LinkedIn equivalent. As soon as you respond, it means your account is active and valid.

@Viss

@Aprazeth @linguistgoneforeign yep. and i get them landing in spam. a dozen a day. 100% ai generated spam bullshit that comes from linkedin. they scrape linkedin for emails, then just spam the shit out of them

@Viss @linguistgoneforeign

I loathe LinkedIn and yet I can't drop it. I am not at risk of unemployment but I do know the unemployment office will pretty "strongly recommend" you to create a profile if you don't have one at said time.

And starting with an empty profile these days is like being part of a clownshow in a miniature car. No one remembers clown # 38218 stepping out nor cares. Plus you'll be shoved into someone else's armpit and forced to smile because showbusiness!
