I haven't been on Mastodon much over the past year or two -- what are people's experiences on Bluesky vs. Mastodon? What do you use each platform for? Which of your communities are on each platform? (I'm not on Threads & have no interest in it.)

@anindita In my world it's Mastodon for nerds and geeky things and old web folks, Bluesky for bigger reach, librarian stuff and more shitposting type of jokes. Mastodon is more people I know in person (though not all, certainly) and Bluesky is more "people from the internet"

@jessamyn This is really interesting because @ranjit said the same thing about Mastodon being for people you know. For me, the DH community was here and then they mostly moved to Bluesky, so this space was always more professional and project-oriented.
