I haven't been on Mastodon much over the past year or two -- what are people's experiences on Bluesky vs. Mastodon? What do you use each platform for? Which of your communities are on each platform? (I'm not on Threads & have no interest in it.)

@anindita I've mostly ignored the existence of bluesky, but there are a few accounts there that are bridged to mastodon and that I follow here (but don't interact with).

My mutuals here are people i know in real life, others I've known for years or decades through other online communities, and lots of nice people I only know here. I also follow some artists and musicians and scientists just to keep up on their work.

@ranjit Interesting -- thanks! I feel like that's how I use Instagram, while Bluesky has become my Twitter replacement... (also: hi!)

@anindita That's kind of how I used to use instagram (though with a higher proportion of 'just following' to 'mutuals' than here), but I've been pulling back from it over the last few years.
