D&D us listed as 'open source'. I think I see the confusion - the SRD is licensed Creative Commons, which allows copying. But it's a different thing.

If you get the D&D PDF, you can't get the source files and re-print the PDF. The images, wording, layout, et c. are all proprietary.

The open source projects could benefit from teamwork as many people can work on them and share the changes. A tag helps to say 'you can get involved'.
