Battle of Duck Lake - Wikipedia

Although the Métis militia won the Battle of Duck Lake, historians report that it was a strategic loss for Louis Riel and the Provisional Government of Saskatchewan. The high number of casualties suffered by the NWMP forces meant the Government of Canada was no longer interested in negotiation. Revenge and control of the territory became the focus of the Federal Government.
